Teaching and PhD Supervision Profile(教学与博士研究生辅导经历)
During my tenure at The University of Western Australia I was responsible for developing, coordinating and teaching the following areas:
Undergraduate Teaching (本科教学):
Modern Chinese Mandarin(《现代汉语》). I taught Chinese Mandarin from beginner to advanced levels. At the higher levels I introduced the students to important aspects of Chinese culture, history, philosophy and critical thinking. Some of these students went on to pursue postgraduate students and were thus well equipped to engage deeply with the topic of ‘Chinese Studies’ in both English and Chinese.
Modern Chinese Studies(《现代中国研究》). I taught several academic units on the modern history and social development of China. The primary language of instruction was English with some use of concepts in Chinese language.
Australia-Asia Relations(《澳大利亚-亚洲关系》). This academic unit introduced the complex history of Australia’s relations with Asia.
Postgraduate Teaching and Supervision (研究生教学与辅导):
Research and Methodology Skills for Postgraduate Studies(《学术研究方法(社会科学)》). I was responsible for designing, coordinating and delivering a number of academic units for postgraduate students in Asian Studies. These units introduced the students to the history, debates and utility of different approaches to conducting research in the social sciences.
During the course of my tenure at UWA I successfully supervised 14 doctoral students to completion (成功辅导14位博士研究生获得博士学位). Six of those students had their theses published as books by respected academic publishers.
